A Voice From Mauthausen

Runtime: 21 minutes

Release Date: 2015

Directed By: David Brichetto

This powerful short narrative film is based on the incredible life of Lieutenant Commander Jack Hedrick Taylor, United States Navy Reserve. It emphasizes his missions with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in World War II, his capture behind enemy lines, subsequent incarceration at Mauthausen concentration camp despite his prisoner of war status, and his testimony at the Nuremberg and Dachau war crimes trials. As a 'frogman,' Lt. Cmdr. Taylor was instrumental in the development of some of the first navy commando-style tactics and equipment, and utilized them on over a dozen missions. Navy SEALs (Sea, Air, Land) evolved from Taylor and his fellow frogmen of the OSS Maritime Unit.
